8 Actions that can be undertaken by Statutory bodies at local level to end child poverty

  1. Discuss the meaning of child poverty and social exclusion within your organisation
  2. Undertake research to identify and highlight child poverty in your area, and to identify actions that could be taken by your organisation to end child poverty
  3. Ensure that ending child poverty is prioritised in all local policies, strategies and action plans
  4. Develop specific time-tabled targets and actions to end child poverty in your area
  5. Consult with children and young people when developing policies, strategies and action plans
  6. Make training available to local authority staff on child poverty issues, and children’s rights in general
  7. Work in partnership with other Statutory, Community and Voluntary organisations in your areas to respond to the needs of children living in poverty
  8. Contact the End Child Poverty Coalition to discuss these actions.
